NGC 5907 is a magnitude 10.38 edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation of Draco. It is estimated to be 40 million light years distant and has an apparent size of 12.3 x 1.8 arc minutes. Date: Apr 15-16,25,30 2008 Location: New Ringgold PA Optics: Meade LX200R 12 inch at f/10 Mount: Paramount ME Camera: SBIG ST-8XME / CFW-8 Guiding: ST-8XME integral guiding chip controlled by Maxim CCD Exposure: LRGB (color 2x2 bin): Luminance: 9x10 min, R:4x8 min, G:4x8 min, B:5x9 min Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop. Comments: A favorite galaxy for Chesmont Astro Society observers. What can be better than a large bright, edge-on at nice high elevations? |
