NGC 3972 in Ursa Major, with supernova SN 2011by, the bright 'star' at the vertical indicators. NGC 3972 is about 55 million light years away. The apparent magniture of the galaxy is 12.1 and apparent size is 3.7x1 arc minutes.

Camera: Apogee Alta U8300 camera with FLI Luminance filter
Guiding: On axis guider with ST401 guide camera
Exposure: Luminance only: 6x10 minutes binned 2x2
Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
